The PTI leaders have once again accused the Punjab government of resorting to foul play with the aim to disrupt their May 25 public meeting in Faisalabad.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s provincial secretariat on Friday, Punjab PTI President Ejaz Chaudhry informed the gathering that he received a letter from the special home secretary citing security threats in Faisalabad on May 25.

“It seems that the PML-N government is stopping its political rivals from holding public meetings in the name of security. Did he write a similar letter to Nawaz Sharif scheduled to address a public meeting on May 29 in Faisalabad? Cannot Punjab government divert some security men from the Jati Umrah and Raiwind for the security of common people?” he asked.

PTI MNA Shafqat Mahmood and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mahmoodur Rasheed were also present.

Chaudhry said that the PTI’s public meeting was an attempt to highlight the alleged election rigging and to highlight the government’s worst performance in last one year.

He maintained that Faisalabad too was going through a worst phase of its history.

“Every fourth individual is victim of hepatitis. Crime rate has increased manifold. But DPOs and other senior police officers are busy escorting politicians. They are stopping the transporters not to provide transport to local people. They are doing everything to keep the people away from the event. Even they want the petrol pumps and CNG station to remain closed for two days prior to public meeting,” he concluded.
