Pakistan best country for foreign investors: Governor

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has said the image of Pakistan is being wrongly portrayed in some sections of the media quite contrary to the ground realities.

He was talking to the Ambassador of Finland to Pakistan Rauli Suikkanen who called on him on Wednesday. The honorary ambassador of Finland was also present.

This negative impression given by the media makes the investors shy to invest here but the foreign multi national companies which had invested in Pakistan were continuously expanding their business which bears the proof of conducive business environment in the country, the governor said.

Pakistan’s economy is on the path of progress. This is the right time for the investors to invest in the country, he observed.

The governor invited the Finnish diplomat to encourage more companies of his country to invest in Pakistan, particularly in Sindh, assuring that the government would offer complete support to the investors in that regard.

The federal and provincial governments have clearly set their priorities for establishing peace in the province he said and assured the ambassador of the positive outcome of these efforts.

The governor said the European Union recently granted the GSP Plus status to Pakistan which shows the quality of Pakistani products and their demand in the EU.

The ambassador said Sindh, particularly Karachi, was ideal for investment and many sectors offer opportunity for cooperation. He pointed out mining, energy, and education as the specific sectors of importance for the Finnish investors.

The ambassador informed the governor that the incumbent president of Finland had acquired his college education from Swedish Technical College in Karachi.
