The Finance Ministry has demanded refund of Rs 3 billion from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) under the head of local government elections, a private news channel reported Monday.

The finance ministry had released the amount of Rs 3 billion to the ECP last year for local government elections. The ECP is of the view that it had still to pay Pakistan Army and National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) for general elections.

It said Nadra had to be paid Rs 450 million and 310 million to Pakistan Army. The ECP said an expenditure of Rs 180 million was incurred in door-to-door verification of voters.
