  • 10 new tubewells to be installed in the capital, seven on Metro’s route to be shifted

Metro Bus Project Director Zahid Saeed on Friday said that seven tubewells would be installed on 9th Avenue within a week to shift those tubewells which came in the way of the bus route.

Saeed said that the work on four tubewells had already started. He said that the contractors have been asked to work round the clock and complete the work within a week, so that the water supply in the city could be shifted to new tubewells. He said that the work on 9th Avenue would start after the installation of new tubewells.

The Metro Bus Project director said that IESCO, SNGPL and PTCL had also been asked to shift utility services from Metro Bus route within 15 days.

Earlier, Capital Development Authority (CDA) had decided to install 10 new tubewells in federal capital to overcome water shortage in summer season. These tubewells will be installed in National Park area, I-10, I-8 and some other sectors.

Water level in Simly Dam has risen to 228 feet due to recent rains, therefore, water supply will be increased by 2 million gallons per day to Islamabad.

A senior CDA official in Engineering Wing said that 12 out of 22 water tankers were operational at present and order had been given for repair of the remaining 10 tankers. Generators will be installed on tubewells to keep them running during load shedding.
