SCHOOL-GOERS STUMBLING WITHOUT BOOKS:

The students of Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) run educational institutions have still not received their textbooks despite assurances from the relevant authorities of making these available till first week of May.

The children’s parents fear that their children would not be able to complete their syllabus in time without textbooks as less than a month left in the summer vacations.

The classes for the new session started on April 14 but the required textbooks could not be published in time by the authorities concerned due to which students are facing difficulties towards their studies.

Shakir Ahmad, a parent said, “My three children are studying in FDE run institutions and they have received only few textbooks so far.”

“I tried to buy the relevant books from the market but these were not available,” the parent said.

Sara Inam, a teacher at a model college, said, “The college administration managed availability of old textbooks for the students to avoid wastage of their precious time.”

“However students are not much enthusiastic for studying through the old books at the onset of new academic session”, she observed.

According to FDE, maximum titles have been delivered to the institutions, while the remaining will be made available soon.

The publishing of books was tasked to the National Book Foundation, but it was delayed due to stay order by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on selection of books through tendering.

Now the stay, the official said, had been vacated and non-available books would be published and distributed among the students soon, he said.

A senior official of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) informed that process of providing free textbooks would be completed soon.

A mechanism has been devised to provide free text books to students of all classes along with the result which would be implemented from next academic session, the official said.

  1. books are other and second matter the actual problem is that I have visited sarai kharboza school for my sons admission but boota shib denied to give the admission to my sons in class four or three he advised me to admit my son in private school I requested him several times that I am a poor and disable person and I do not have money to pay Rs 800 per child per month but boota sahib said that this is your problem not mine after leaving school campus I thought why teachers have changed and become selfish and enemy of their own country and homeland and poor and helpless community
