SSP stresses for community policing in Capital

All segments of society should be taken on board for effective policing and joint efforts to be made for comprehensive security in the city and complete protection to the citizens, said SSP Islamabad Muhammad Ali Naikokara on Sunday.

SP (Saddar) Muhammad Ilyas, SP (City) Mustansar Feeroz, SP (Investigation) Jameel Ahmed Hashmi, SP (Indsutrial Area) Liaqat Hayat Niazi, SP (CID) Zubair Ahmed Sheikh, SP (ARU) Nighat Mujtaba, all SDPOs and SHOs of police stations attended the meeting.

The SSP directed all the police officials to maintain coordination with different segments of society, including lawyers, traders, civil society, notables of various areas and others for ensuring community policing in the city.

He said teams should be constituted at level of each police station by maintaining close liaison with various segments and expertise of each individual should be benefited for better output of the force.

Naikokara also directed to conduct refresher courses for police employees about use of weapons and stop car theft incidents by devising a mutual strategy with the cooperation of all police officials.

The SSP said that crackdown should be launched against those having illegal weapons and mobile police pickets should be erected to curb criminal activities. He said that officers of Inspector and Sub-Inspector will ensure checking of these pickets to improve performance.

He said that SOP has been prepared for security of banks and money changers operating in the city and all Zonal SPs, SDPOs and SHOs would be responsible to conduct meetings with the administration of these outlets for implementation on various instructions.

The SSP said that administration of banks and money changers would be responsible for installation of CCTV cameras within their premises, entry points and parking areas. He said that expertise and bio data of security guards should be properly checked by police officials while special checking to be also made through mobile pickets on routes of money carrying vehicles.

He asked all SDPOs and SHOs to maintain continuous contact with the complainants and take every possible step for immediate relief to them.

It is the prime responsibility of police to help citizens and all out efforts should be made to bridge the gap between police and pubic, he added.
