Supply of water to twin cities from Khanpur Dam has been suspended due to electricity cut off to Sangjani filtration plant. The credit goes to Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) for being a defaulter of Rs 3.3 million electricity dues.
On account of suspension of electricity, the supply of water from Khanpur Dam to twin cities has been suspended for the past three days.
The water situation in Rawalpindi and Islamabad especially in the Cantt area is already critical and now due to suspension of supply it has become graver. According to sources, IESCO has refused to restore the power to Sangjani plant till payment of outstanding dues.
