*Sharif wants government to complete energy related projects in time
Cost efficient power is our top priority and the government departments must work hard to complete all the power projects in time, said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while chairing a meeting on energy and related infrastructure on Monday at Jati Umra.
The Punjab government has undertaken six coal fired power projects mostly in collaboration with the Chinese government. Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on this occasion gave a detailed briefing on the logistics of the coal to run these projects. Huge supplies of coal will be required from all-over the country to make the energy projects functional. The Railways minister apprised the prime minister about railways ability to provide uninterrupted supply of coal from Port Qasim to different projects.
The minister also informed that some of the mega railway projects undertaken recently including the up gradation of ML1 from Karachi to Peshawar, railway network for Murree-Islamnabad and Muzafarabad route. He also briefed the railways contribution to make Pak-China Economic Corridor a viable initiative.
The prime minister directed to fast track the process. The briefing was also attended by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaque Dar and Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Professor Ahsan Iqbal.
