ISLAMABAD-
The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday directed the Federal Secretary Interior, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Inspector General Police Islamabad to remove the Katchi Abadis (slum areas) established in the federal capital till April 23.
He also directed all the top Federal Officials to continue their operation and submit separate reports in this regard till next date of hearing.
A single member bench comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui issued the directives while hearing a plea filed several by residents of ‘Kachi Abadis’ through their lawyer Farrukh Daal against order of removal of slum areas from capital.
Federal Secretary Interior,Shahid Khan, Chairman Capital Development Authority,(CDA) Maroof Afzal, Chief Commissioner and Inspector General Police Islamabad appeared before the court.
Last week, authorities demolished squatter settlement on around International Islamic University Islamabad.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) took the action on directives of federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, five days after a deadly blast killed 25 people on the outskirts of Islamabad.
During the operation against illegal settlements, officials said, over 1000 makeshift houses were razed in Sector H-10 on the land of Railways and CDA, mostly inhabited by Afghan nationals.
The settlements were being seen as security risk for twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The district administration has directed the affectees to move out of Islamabad.
