Court not indifferent to security of judges, lawyers: CJP

The Supreme Court (SC) has declared the recommendations of Islamabad High Court Bar (IHCB) president in Islamabad district courts attack case very important and sought reply from interior secretary within 15 days.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani said, “Court is not indifferent to the security of lawyers and judges and all steps will be taken in this respect. Providing security not only to the judges and lawyer but also to the common man is responsibility of the state. How the courts will function unless fool proof security is provided.”

A 3-member bench of SC headed by CJP Tassaduq Hussain Jillani took up the case for hearing Tuesday.

President IHCB Akhtar Kiani appeared in the court who presented before it recommendations complied by the IHCB.

The court reviewed them remarking “Certain recommendations among them are very crucial. We think that summoning reply from interior secretary with reference to it is must.”

Recommendations from Islamabad bar were also presented before the court in the meantime. The court while adjourning the hearing of the case for 15 days has sought reply from interior secretary with respect to IHCB recommendations.
