IG for strengthening security at worship places

The IG Sindh Police, Iqbal Mehmood, has sought report from the DIG Hyderabad into a recent incident of damage to a worship place of a minority community by miscreants on Tando Muhammad Khan Road.

The IG directed the police officers to ensure extra-ordinary security arrangements at worship places and residential areas of minority communities in the province, said a handout issued on Sunday.

He directed all the DIGs to take steps at every level for increased patrolling, snap-checking, picketing and other security arrangements to maintain law and order.

Iqbal Mehmood ordered that security measures should be strengthened at district/zonal level for all the mosques, imambargahs, buildings of government and semi-government institutions, educational institutions, missionary schools, religious places of minorities, and other public places.

Meanwhile, the IG also directed the officials to ensure implementation of Section 144 imposed by the Sindh home department in the surroundings of examination centres on the occasion of annual matriculation exams.

The police chief directed all the DIGs to ensure the effective security arrangements at examination centres. He said reserved police should also be ready for the assistance of district police.
