Seven of a family shot dead

Unknown gunmen shot dead seven members of the same family in Kutcha area near Shikarpur, officials said on Sunday.

According to local police, some unidentified armed men entered a house in Lakhi Ghulam Hussain, a village near Shikarpur, and opened indiscriminate firing, killing a woman, her daughter and five sons.

Police said sad incident took place late Saturday night. The motive behind the killing is stated to be an old enmity. According to police, the attacker escaped from the scene after the incident. Police have cordoned off the area and started and launched search to arrest the culprits.

Banned outfit men among 13 arrested

In an ongoing anti-criminal crackdown in Karachi, the paramilitary Rangers claimed to have arrested 13 more suspects including members of a banned outfit, officials said on Sunday.

Local police said the suspects were rounded up during a search operation in Mujahid Colony at North Nazimabad area. They said the troops condoned off the colony and searched suspected houses during the intelligence-driven operation joined by some 300 Rangers personnel.

Rangers spokesman said 13 suspects, banned outfit men among them, were arrested and 50 different weapons were also recovered from them.
