ISLAMABAD-
National Assembly’s Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah on Wednesday said that the government should not involve the army in the dialogue process with militants, a private news channel reported.
Shah, while talking to reporters, said that armed forces are not for holding talks or make deals with militants adding that involving the army in the dialogue process could be dangerous.
A dangerous situation may emerge if the talks fail, he warned.
Shah said that he had no objections over anyone’s participation in the peace talks as long as they were not the serving personnel of the armed forces.
Shah’s comments follow a media report that the government was considering reconstituting its four-member negotiating committee in a bid to make the peace process more ‘effective and result-oriented’.
