The case of Nagan Chowrangi incident has been registered in New Karachi Police Station.
The police said the case has been lodged against Rangers’ personnel, under murder, attempt to murder and kidnapping, on the complaint of widow of the deceased.
Meanwhile, the sisters of the victim said police had not lodged case on their complaint as the copy of their statement was tore off.
CASE HISTORY:
A man was killed and his wife injured after Rangers opened fire in North Karachi on Friday.
According to reports, Rangers personnel opened fire in Nagan Chowrangi area near Siddique-e-Akbar Masjid, leaving a man dead and his wife injured.
Police said tension gripped the adjacent areas and business activities came to a grinding halt after the incident. Locals pelted the police and Rangers with stones in protest against the firing.
The injured wife said she was being assaulted by her husband when the Rangers intervened. She added that when her husband refused to stop the Rangers opened fire.
According to the Rangers spokesman, the man injured in the firing succumbed to his injuries at the AbbasiShaheedHospital and the incident was being investigated.
The spokesman claimed Rangers personnel fired warning shots and when the husband did not stop assaulting his wife he was shot.
