Two workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were killed in Karachi on Friday where sporadic incidents of firing continued despite police’s and Rangers’ operation.

Police said the MQM workers, identified as Hamid and Khalid, were targeted outside a mosque in Nazimabad area. The gunmen riding motorbikes fired shots at Hamid and Khalid when they came out of the mosque after offering Jumma prayer. “The incident seems to be an act of targeted killing,” a police officer said.

Eyewitnesses said police officials were also on-duty when the assailants targeted the MQM workers outside the mosque. Tension gripped the area after killings of the political workers which came a day after a prominent Shia scholar, Allama Syed Taqi Hadi Naqvi, was assassinated in the city among nine other people.
