Student groups clash over Valentine’s Day debate

Three students were injured when two groups of students clashed in Peshawar University over Valentine’s Day celebrations, a private news channel reported.

According to the reports, a student group was celebrating the international day of love when another student faction – advocating ‘Youm e Haya’ in its place – clashed with it.

The scuffle led to three persons getting injured, involving a female student. The panic also caused a stampede.

One of the groups torched four rooms of a hostel block belonging to the rivals.

Police were called in to control the situation. Upon their arrival, angry student pelted them with stones.

13 students were arrested by the authorities.

Fire brigade was also called in to let out the fire and prevent further damage.
