The Sindh Assembly on Monday approved a bill against wall chalking on public and private properties in the province.
The bill was approved by a unanimous vote.
According to the clauses of the bill, anyone found guilty of wall chalking will be jailed for six months and fined Rs 5,000.
Earlier in April 2013, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan had promulgated an ordinance to ban wall chalking.
As per the ordinance, people were not allowed to disfigure any wall, building or property with an intention to attract public attention by painting and wall chalking.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) parliamentary leaders during the assembly session on Monday submitted a privilege motion seeking formation of standing committees in Sindh assembly.
They said that parliamentary traditions required formation of Standing Committees within first one hundred days of the new house.
Provincial Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Sikandar Mendhro said that the formation of standing committees took time because of consultation with all political parties. During session the treasury and the opposition benches agreed for consultation on the subject out of the house.
Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly, Shehla Raza gave ruling that after the assembly session on Tuesday, consultations would be made in this behalf after which the mover did not press the motion.
