There is no value of legal notice sent by Judicial Activism Panel as the university administration is bound to obey the decision of Syndicate to lease 50 kanal land, said Punjab University spokesman on Sunday.

The spokesman said that a specific group disliked progress being made by Punjab University and was trying to create hurdles. He said that the people making useless noise had been rejected by teachers in the recent elections and they would face the same fate outside the university.

The PU spokesman said that Punjab University administration was following the policy of being self-reliant. He said that instead of increasing fee and putting financial burden on poor parents, the PU administration, in the light of letters sent by Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the chancellor, was choosing other means to increase its revenues.

The spokesman said that because of financial crunch, the HEC and the chancellor have instructed the universities in their letters to use their assets for commercial purposes to increase resources. Therefore the Syndicate’s decision was according to law.
