Saad determined to bring PR out of crisis

Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has announced that the ministry is going to start cargo train between Turkey and Pakistan.

He said that effective steps are underway to ensure financial recovery of Pakistan Railways (PR).

Addressing a news conference on Sunday about six months progress of PR‚ the minister revealed that Railways earned record profit during the last six months.

He said the issues related to the Railways land will be resolved amicably‚ and the process to computerise the land record will start soon.

Saad Rafique said action will be taken against corrupt officials in the department.

Railways minister announced that 315 new engines will soon be added to the PR, adding that no appointment was made in the ministry during the last six months.

Rafique vowed to improve salaries and pensions of serving and retired officials of the ministry and indicated to take steps for restructuring of the department.

He also divulged that Railways earned some 3.5 billion rupees as compared to last year that is good omen.
