Religious parties announce strike on Friday

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) and other religious parties Sunday announced to observe a strike on Friday against the killing of Mufti Usman Yar Khan and other clerics in Karachi.

Addressing a press conference here, JUI-S, JUI-F, ASWJ members and Mufti Naeem said that it was their democratic right to hold a peaceful protest. They called for early arrest of those involved in the killing of Mufti Usman Yar Khan.

Mufti Usman Yar Khan was killed along with his driver and a pupil in a targeted attack on Sharea Faisal on Friday.

Mufti Usman Yar Khan was a moderate Deobandi Scholar and general secretary of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Samiul Haq (JUI-S).
