Amid sporadic incidents of violence in the city, Rangers conducted search operation in Manghopir locality on Sunday and arrested several suspected criminals.
Officials said Rangers cordoned off Kunwari Colony of Manghopir area the other morning and conducted house-to-house search during their operation.
Over 1000 Rangers, including female personnel, took part in the operation during which several suspects were arrested. At least two people were killed and nine others injured in overnight firing incidents and cracker attack at a restaurant in Qasba Colony.
In Lyari, Rangers arrested banned outfit activist Qari Siraj along with his two companions. The operation was conducted on a tip-off provided by an arrested police officer Sarwar Baloch.
An alleged target killer and three criminal suspects were also arrested in a separate operation in Lyari. Huge cache of arms was also seized from the suspects. Earlier, police and Rangers in a joint operation arrested 14 suspects belonging to Lyari gang war. Unidentified assailants opened fire near nursery on Shahrah-e-Faisal, killing one while injuring another person. A woman was killed while 14 others were injured in a grenade attack in Lyari.
A body was also found from Khadda Market while a lady was killed in a firing incident in Liaqatabad.
