Funeral prayers of slain Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) leaders Muneer Muawiya and Asad Mahmood offered in front of the Parliament House in Islamabad on Saturday.

Lal Masjid’s Khateeb Maulana Abdul Aziz led funeral prayers of two ASWJ leaders.

The two officials of ASWJ were shot dead in Islamabad sector I-8 when they were boarding a car and two unidentified armed motorcyclists sprayed bullets at their vehicle, police officials said.

Before funeral prayers, the bereaved families and the group’s operatives staged a protest demonstration on the assassination spot while bodies of the deceased were still there.

Earlier, the bodies of the slain leaders were also taken to the Lal Masjid, meanwhile the Islamabad administration officials held talks with ASWJ leaders to convince them to avoid holding funeral prayers before the Parliament House due to security concerns.

The location to offer funeral prayers had been a subject of speculations as ASWJ also announced to hold the last rituals in front of United Nations office in Islamabad.
