Protesters burn two police check posts

Death of a youth triggered protest in Peshawar where enraged protestors burnt two police check posts on Tuesday.

Daad Gul, a resident of Regi area and employee in PeshawarUniversity was gunned down by unidentified assailants in his home last night (Monday). Family members of the victim alleged that some armed men in police uniform barged into the house and shot the man dead.

In reaction to the murder, a large number of Daad Gul’s relatives along with the area people staged protest demonstration on Tuesday by placing the dead body on road and demanding arrest of the killers. The protestors went on rampage during the demonstration and set on fire two police check posts in Regi area.

The protesters later dispersed after heavy police contingents arrived to control the situation. Police have started investigation into the killing.
