Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has given a green signal to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S) Chief Samiul Haq to initiate negotiations with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Tuesday.
The PM held a one on one meeting for about one-and-a-half hour with the JUI-S chief, who had called on him, and discussed threadbare matters relating to the talks with Taliban besides future strategy in this regard.
Nawaz Sharif said that the government is serious in making the peace process successful and wants to bring all elements on board.
In the meeting, Samiul-Haq briefed the premier over the back door dialogue with the outlawed militant group. He demanded that unannounced military operations should be stopped and compensation should be made for the damages in South Waziristan.
Sami said he would try to help resolve this issue and added that the core issue was to stall the drone attacks. He further advised the PM to revisit the foreign policy of Pakistan.
Samiul Haq said that the Rawalpindi tragedy and matters relating to sectarianism were also discussed in his meeting with the PM.
