Dr Jawad Sadiq is the presumptive chairman of the Punjab Club management committee for the year 2014 after securing highest number of votes in the eight-member committee elections on Monday.

He was declared elected securing 150 votes out of the 187 votes cast of the 300-member club.

Other members elected to the committee are: Dr Rashid Latif 110 votes, Jahangir Khan 101 votes, Salim Salamat 101 votes, Munib Dar 101 votes, Asim Nazir 101 votes, Tahir Jahangir 82 votes and Tajjamul Bokhari 78 votes.

It may be recalled that Aleem Khan, the opposing candidate eyeing the chairmanship of the premier club of Lahore, was disqualified for allegedly hosting a campaign dinner expressly forbidden under the club rules.

Aftab Choudhry, Fareeduddin Ahmed, Hameed Piracha and Jahangir Monnoo were amongst the members of the reconstituted election committee. Election for the chairman, now a mere formality, will be held next week.
