President Mamnoon Hussain on Saturday said that the government was taking all possible steps to make education affordable and accessible for the people in the country.
While addressing the 8th Convocation of Riphah International University in Islamabad, the president said his priority was to promote research culture with focus on capacity building to produce community of individuals who can effectively contribute to economic‚ political and social development of the country.
Hussain pointed out that majority of the country’s population was youth‚ which has the required potential and capability to bring about constructive change in the society. He said education was the only contributing factor to address the challenges of a weak economy‚ security‚ law and order and terrorism.
The president said the 21st century was a century of knowledge and innovation and it was responsibility of universities and institutes of higher education to become the hub of generating innovative ideas and inventions.
Earlier‚ the president gave away certificates and gold medals to outstanding graduating students.
