‘Fahim behind illegal recruitments in PQA’

Former trade minister Amin Fahim has been found allegedly involved in illegal recruitments in the Port Qasim Authority (PQA).
On Wednesday, the dysfunctional secretary of PQA Abdul Jabbar Memon revealed this in his reply submitted before the Supreme Court (SC). He has replied para wise to the statement submitted by the federal government on the issue of the illegal recruitments.
In the reply, the former secretary said that Amin Fahim recruited his brother-in-law, Mehmood Zameer, in the PQA as a deputy secretary.
He said these orders were issued by Nargis Sethi on the directions of the former trade minister, while he (Memon) had already been appointed on this designation. Later, the prime minster cancelled Fahim’s orders.
The petitioner also said a 4-member larger bench, headed by former acting chief justice (CJ) Javed Iqbal, had issued the stay order on January 31, 2011 against illegal recruitments and promotions in the PQA.
While ignoring the court orders, former ports and shipping minister Babar Ghauri recruited 455 people illegally in the PQA, and a petition has been also filed in the SC in this connection, he added.
The petitioner pleaded before the court to take action against 15 people, including Nargis Sethi, Saleem Khan, Khawar Jameel, Asad Qureshi and Muhammad Shafi over illegal recruitments.
Earlier, the federal government submitted its reply regarding the issue on which the court had sought Memon’s answer.
