Sindh bill proposes ban on excessive wedding spending

A bill seeking ban on unnecessary spending at wedding ceremonies was tabled in the Sindh Assembly on Tuesday.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Sharmila Farooqui presented the bill.

The bill seeks a ban on decorating streets and roads during a wedding ceremony and only allows the wedding house to be decorated.

In her bill, Ms Farooqui also proposed banning aerial firing, cracker blasts and display of fireworks.

  1. It will simply be ignored. The SHO of the local Thana will just have one more way to squeeze money from people.

  2. Good gesture. How about taking another initiative and eliminating non qualified babboos too. Mr. Qazi Jamal Mustafa….DC has recently bought a property in DHA karachi. He has in all probability not declared the amount at which he bought and the sources from where he got the money. Well basically feeding his kin through black money or bribe money he gets by giving service to his master Mr Tappi. Ms Faruqi or CS or CM or any other official should look how he got to this position…..he is puppy of tappi. Hats off to Sindh government. NAB can also look into his career progress too.
