State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali on Saturday directed the management of National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) to undo all irregular promotions and to ensure its financial and performance audit and report to him within seven days.

Talking to the media after a briefing by NESPAK Managing Director Amjad A. Khan, during his first visit to NESPAK he said that the government was committed to eliminating corruption at all levels, especially the NESPAK to restore its sanctity and image at international level.

He directed the concerned authorities to prepare a detailed report within a week about the misuse of vehicles, issuance of vehicle to non-entitled officers at NESPAK.

To a question, the minister disclosed that during the tenure of the past government, huge funds were available with National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDCL) for improvement in the power transmission system which were not spent on the specific purposes but rather surrendered. He termed it as sheer injustice with the public as well as negligence and inefficacy of the past regime.

Abid said that the present government would take to task all those involved in corruption at any level in the departments. “The government is keeping all documents and affairs of power sector projects open for the public and anyone is welcome to check their transparency as they are all free of corruption,” he added.
