Uncovered wires dangling from electric poles

The uncovered live wires dangling from electric poles on streets and roads in residential and commercial areas, particularly congested localities of the town, pose a serious threat to human lives, yet the authorities concerned seem unmoved by this situation.

In most of the residential and commercial areas, generally congested areas of Tench Bhatta, Peoples Colony, Bakra Mandi, Dhoke Saydian, Masrial Road, Lalkurti, Amarpura, Raja Bazaar, Committee Chowk, Buni, Akalgarh and Motti Bazaar, electric wires are not properly hanged.

“These dangling and uncovered power wires pose serious threats to the residents especially to the kids,” said Khalid, a resident of Peoples Colony.

He said the residents of the area have submitted several applications to the concerned authorities but to no avail. Another resident pointed out that most of dangling uncovered power wires are “just like an accident waiting to happen”.

The electricity service providers are fully aware of the danger, but unfortunately have turned a blind eye to the problem. The residents in Tench Bhatta said that the wires have been there for years and no one has ever bothered to have them covered or removed.

They have demanded that the authorities concerned take effective measures and rectify this problem to save the consumers from any unwanted incident.
