Tall claims of the provincial government and health authorities failed to bring the dengue virus under control as more dengue cases surfaced in Punjab on Sunday.
According to the Health Department (HD), three more patients including two from Lahore and one from Sheikhupura were diagnosed with the virus taking the total number of dengue patients in Punjab to 124.
The rapid spread of dengue increased the worries of the public as the virus wreaked havoc last year, claiming hundreds of lives besides affecting hundreds more.
The HD claimed that all out efforts were being made and all available resources were being utilised to overcome the disease. The ground realities, however, were against the HD’s assertions.
Citizens of various districts of Punjab expressed their grave concerns over the surge in the number of dengue patients and demanded the provincial and federal governments to take extraordinary steps in this regard.
