The Punjab government has decided to constitute Boards of Governors (BoGs) in 700 high schools of the province.
Paper work of the project has been completed and its summary will be sent to Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif soon. The BoGs will be constituted after the approval of the summary.
According to source, initially the board of governors will be formed in boys and girls schools in big districts and Rs500, Rs800 and Rs1000 will be received from the students as fee. They said that Central School Lahore is an example of the new model.
On the other hand, educational circles have criticized the step of the government, terming it a show of contradiction in the slogans and actions of the provincial government. They said that the promise of free education to every child will be ruined by the formation of the BoGs in schools, as poor children will not be able to pay the fee. They have rejected the new model.
