Though normalcy returns, 3 more found dead

As many as three more bodies were recovered from sectarian-hit Bhakkar district on Sunday. Meanwhile, authorities lifted curfew claiming that normalcy had returned to the city after two days of clashes between two armed sectarian groups.

Local officials said three more bodies were found from a nullah bringing the overall death toll to 15 in four days. Though the district administration lifted curfew, it enforced section 144 in the district.

All businesses activities were resumed and a large number of people were seen purchasing different food commodities and other daily use items.

Indefinite curfew was imposed at 10 am on Saturday following the killing of 12 people in exchange of fire between two religious groups. Following the clash, police said, 22 people were kidnapped by the rival religious groups. Of them, five were found dead on Saturday and three on Sunday while 14 people were still missing, they added.

Police claimed to have arrested 31 suspects in Kotla Jam and Darya Khan and shifted them to unknown places with police and Rangers patrolling in the area.

District Police Officer (DPO) Sarfraz Falki said that various teams had been constituted to probe into the incident of violence which would collect evidences and formulate a detailed report.

He said law and order situation was under control but still law enforcement agencies (LEAs) were at red alert to deal with any untoward occurrence.

Meanwhile, citizens of the violence-hit area demanded the authorities for thorough investigation into the incident and hang publicly the culprits involved in massacre of innocent people.
