Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has assured the provincial assembly of conducting a fair probe into the alleged corruption in the Habibullah Coastal Power Plant.

He said stern action would be taken against the guards deployed on the electricity pylons if found absent from their duties.

Talking on a point of order during the assembly session held with Jan Jamali in the chair on Thursday, the chief minister said soon after the takeover of the PML-N government, a meeting was convened in Islamabad for formulation of a Pakistan energy policy. “We strongly opposed the policy as there was very little for the energy sector of Balochistan in it,” he said.

About resolving the power crisis in the province, Baloch told the House that QESCO had assured the government that work on Dera Ghazi Khan-Loralai and Khuzdar-Dado Transmission lines would be completed by December.

“The federal government has also assured us that Balochistan will be given a share in the 1,000 Megawatt of electricity to be purchased from Iran,” he said.

The chief minister said the NP-led coalition government had pledged that it would end corruption and ban transfers, postings and use of secret funds.

Baloch assured MPA Sarfaraz Bugti about the supply of anti-snake venom injections.

“Directives have been issued for the recovery of girls kidnapped from Quetta and Kalat,” he added.
