Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has filed a petition against pillion riding ban in the city at Sindh High Court (SHC) here on Monday.
The petition was filed by JI deputy chief Nasrullah Khan Shajih, former lawmakers Younus Barai and Hameedullah Khan Advocate.
In the petition, the JI maintained that the provincial government on the name of pillion riding ban had done injustice with the people, adding that it was a violation of human rights.
The petition further stated that the lives of six million people being affected every day by the ban on pillion riding as citizens were suffering tremendous mental agony, as there was an acute shortage of public transport in the city.
The JI leaders were of the view that the government should take affective measures in order to tackle the menace of terrorism, instead of imposing ban on pillion riding.
In the petition, the JI leaders also appealed to the court to lift the ban on pillion riding at the earliest.
