A lawyer, who filed a case against General (r) Pervez Musharraf for detaining judges and later withdrew it, said on Thursday that life threats had forced him to take the decision.
Recording his statement before a magistrate in Islamabad, Aslam Ghumman said that he stopped pursing the case following life threats to him and his family members. He said he was still receiving life threats. He said Musharraf’s security officer Col (r) Ilyas would be responsible if any mishap happened to him or his family.
Ghumman was complainant of the FIR registered with Secretariat Police Station against Musharraf. However, a couple of month back, he had announced to withdraw his complaint in the larger “national interest”. After recording his statement, Ghumman flew for London citing life threats.
Musharraf’s political adviser Chaudhry Sarfaraz Anjum alleged that Ghumman had demanded a huge sum of money along with one-year stay abroad. He said that upon refusal, Gumman once again became active in the said case.
Earlier, in the last month, Ghumman filed a petition in the Supreme Court, saying that he has been under constant life threat after Musharraf’s arrest.

This lawyer is an utter liar and Musharraf's advocate was actually blackmailed and after the later exposed Ghumman,s blackmailing,Ghumman flew away to seek political asylum in London.He should not be given asylum and indeed should be brought back on red warrant and face trial for using judges detention case in his own interest and black mailing our respected former president.
And to the cheap justices of Pakistan I demand Musharraf immediate release
as none of the cases have been proved yet and still he is is jail for last 4 months
As a matter of fact Col Ilyas is a brave soldier of ISI who saved Musharaf from deadly attacks by taliban and other evils. Ch. Aslam showed his mental illness and jealousy by escaping from country and demanding high amount and benefits from Mushraf. If Aslam was honest he should give call records and sms records to court. Money made him blind. Aslam is a bad fish who can be sued by Col. (R) Ilyas under defamation act. Without prove spreading rumors is a mental illness.
