The development work in Sector D-12 is yet to be completed despite the passage of eight years due to lack of funds and failure to get possession of the land.
This sector was started 23 years ago and majority of the allotees have died hoping to get their plots in the sector.
The contract for the development of the sector was awarded in 2005 but the Capital Development Authority (CDA) faced difficulties in getting possession of the lands due to the laziness of Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation Department, which has delayed the project. CDA is awaiting possession of 10 per cent of the land which is delaying the construction of Service Road East, West and North.
According to CDA officials, 68 per cent development work has been completed in the sector, while shortage of funds and non-acquisition of lands was delaying the remaining work.
Allotees have demanded the authority to complete the remaining development work at the earliest. They also demanded that work on water supply should be completed on priority basis.
