Office-bearers of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) on Saturday expressed dissatisfaction over various problems including issues in the implementation of the service structure, the unavailability of seats for postgraduate doctors and the privatisation of healthcare by the introduction of the health insurance card.
Addressing a press conference at Services Hospital, YDA leaders including YDA Punjab President Dr Javed, Dr Abu Bakar
Gondal and Dr Khuram Shehzad said that the health department officials were not fulfilling their commitments with respect to giving seats to postgraduate doctors and the implementation of service structure.
They said that fresh postgraduate (PG) doctors were not being recruited. Commenting on the launching of health insurance card, they said the YDA would not accept any move to privatise healthcare under the cover of this health insurance card.
They urged the health department to resolve the matters of PG doctors and the service structure by July 31 or the YDA would launch a retaliatory protest drive.
