With 92 new cases reported during the last 24 hours, the number of measles cases reported in Punjab in the last six and a half months has reached 22,224. According to health department officials, at least 188 deaths have been reported so far. Most deaths occurred in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kasur and Sialkot. Of the cases reported in the last 24 hours, only 8 were from hospitals in Lahore. Officials appealed to parents to get their children upto five years of age vaccinated against measles without delay and cooperate with vaccinating teams. Meanwhile, EPI focal person Dr Younas said that the current drive in five high-risk districts of Punjab was getting good response and people were contacting them to vaccinate their children against measles.
