The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has offered the main accused in the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) corruption case, Tauqir Sadiq, to become an approver against certain political figures.
According to media reports, NAB asked Sadiq to become approver against former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Raja Pervez Ashraf and other officials allegedly involved in multi-billion rupee scam.
Earlier, NAB unveiled names of two former prime ministers allegedly responsible for appointing Sadiq and giving him protection.
Former interior minister Rehman Malik and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Jehangir Badr allegedly helped Sadiq escape the country, while former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain has been involved for his alleged role in issuing licences for setting up CNG stations.
The former OGRA chairman had fled abroad soon after the Supreme Court declared his appointment illegal on November 25, 2012.
This case will open many avenues and bring out lot of parda nasheens what a joke? They never thought that one day they will be caught There is always a days and time has come Let the justice take its course and hope SC will award harshest punishments to all ex and also those who are with the high profile figures God is great face the music soon
.
God is great only if I got my billion in my pocket already …
.
And when he becomes great, my cash would still be the king …
.
Pakistan is a 'great' country. If any high profile case (from murder of Liaqat Ali Khan to Benazir, or any corruption cases – and there are so many – ever ever brought anybody to justice then this may also. Otherwise forget day dreaming about keep 'enjoying' more stories like this. The 'natural' course of justice in this land of the pure is to "to forgive and forget".
@Ravian
I agree with you that this will be as usual an exercise in futility. Had the amount of money involved not so huge, the culprit/culprits, would have been behind bars by now. Jehangir Badar has been awarded a Ph.D degree "research" recently, so our esteemed University has acknowledged his role in this scandal. Recall that Mr. Rehman Malik, has also received an honorary Ph.D degree, in recent past on similar services to his country.
Approver,you mean rat out the other bad guys and we'll set you free,but you can keep the money as long as we get our share,GOT IT.
It’s all drama, what SC has done to date; can anybody point out any single matter which SC has resolved? Mr. CJ Iftikhar Ch. appears to be IG of all buggers, memo gate, election rigging, murder in Karachi, target killing, NRO, zardari Swiss letters, rental power, not even one case is final…………….all these people ruling us whether in politics, judiciary or bureaucracy………they are same. And we are just puppets.
Short cut to avoid un-necessary headache, and implicate political rivals. Bravo NAB.
set one example or deterrent, an exemplary punishment, and the we will see corruption practices going down the drain. dont let the cases go into the black hole.
