Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has said that the three names proposed by the opposition leader Khurshid Shah for the post of NAB chairman were most suitable and there should not be any unnecessary delay in deciding the matter.
Talking to the JI office bearers in the city on his return from Karachi on Wednesday, Baloch said that the previous NAB chairman was a disputed person and had been removed but the delay in the appointment of the new incumbent on the post implied supporting corruption. He said the three men proposed by the opposition leader; Justice (r) Rana Bhagwandas, Khwaja Zaheer Ahmed and Justice (r) Sardar Raza Khan enjoyed the confidence of the people. He said as the NAB chairman was to be appointed by the prime minister in consultation with the opposition leader, there now seemed to be no reason for delaying the matter.
Baloch noted that the Karachi situation was worsening day by day. He said the people of the mega city had been denied the right to vote in a fair, free and transparent atmosphere and Karachi had been placed in the hands of target killers, extortionists and terrorists. Fresh elections were inevitable in the port city for the restoration of peace and tranquility.
The JI leader welcomed as a happy augury that the people all over the country would be starting the holy month of Ramazan the same day. He said the month of Ramazan was the period of divine blessings and salvation. He expressed the hope that the faithful would make the best of the holy month and seek forgiveness and deliverance from the Almighty.
However, he slated the steep rise in prices of eatables with the advent of Ramazan and urged the authorities to effectively control the prices.
