At least two people were drown while three others rescued when the wire of a chairlift carrying people across Pankora River broke at 09:30am on Saturday.
According to police, five people were onboard a chairlift near Sahibabad area of tehsil Warai in Upper Dir to cross Panjkora River, however, the wire could not sustain the weight and broke. All the five people fell into the river among which three were rescued by the people. The body of one victim identified as Islam s/o Noor Muhammad of Warai was later retrieved from the water.
The rescued people were shifted to Warai Hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.
