2 terrorists arrested in Islamabad confess to killing PTI MPA Farid Khan

The Crime Investigation Agency of the Islamabad Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested killers of 36 people, including PTI MPA Farid Khan, who was shot dead on June 3 in Hangu.

A spokesman for the police said the CIA received a tip-off that two terrorists were living in Tarnol area with fake identities. He said after monitoring the two suspects’ movement and keeping a vigilant eye on them, the CIA police team raided their hideout and arrested them. They two were identified as Asifullah s/o Abdullah and Abid Khan s/o Akhtar Badshah.

Police said during preliminary investigation, the nabbed suspects confessed to their involvement in the murder of PTI MPA Farid Khan.

It has been revealed that both are members of a local militant network based in Hangu.

They two said they had committed Farid Khan’s murder on the directions of Nabi Mullah Hanfi, commander of a local militant outfit in Hangu, who had developed differences with the MPA because of the victim’s stance against militancy and determination to restore the writ of the government in the area.

According to the police, the nabbed militants told the investigators that they were told about Farid Khan’s movement by their accomplice Kakay, a local commander of the militant centre in Kandoo Kill area, adding that later they ambushed and killed him on Hangu’s Sanghar Road.

Asifullah and Abid Khan also confessed to killing 36 people and had a criminal record due to their involvement in cases of terrorism, murder and attempt to murder.

They named some of their witnesses as Sameen Afzal, whom they killed on January 16 and also assassinated Saim Shah s/o Khalifa, Khalid Hyat s/o Muhammad Hyat, Roshnai, Jehanzeb, Sarat Gul, Khalid Hyat, Nauger Shah, Usman Khan, Muhammad Jalil, Abdul Hadi, Lal Marjan, Muhammad Tariq, Ameer Ahmed, Muhammad Rasheed, Kamal Uddin, Muhammad Faisal, Habib Ullah, Rasool Jan, Qabil Khan, Haji Muhammadi Gul, Ziabat Khan, Gul Hussain, Qasim, Muhammad Wahab, Muhammad Kamal, Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Ayub, Siraj Bibi, Nazia Bibi, Muhammad Alam, Muhammad Saleem, Shamas ul Akbar, Falak Khan, Fazal Hameed and Khalid Nawaz.

The police spokesman said investigations were underway and the police was hopeful of gleaning more information from them.
