Top priority to strengthen armed forces: PM

Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said his government accorded the highest priority to strengthening armed forces and adequately equipping them to meet all challenges, while talking to Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Shamim Wyne and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila, separately, called on the PM at his office on Tuesday.
“Ensuring national security is our utmost responsibility and highest priority. All necessary resources will be provided to strengthen Pakistan Navy and enhance its professional capabilities,” said the PM.
Sharif said Pakistan Navy had an important role in defending the country’s maritime boundaries and safeguarding its sovereignty at high seas.
Admiral Sandila briefed the PM on professional matters pertaining to Pakistan Navy.
General Wyne, in his meeting, apprised the premier on professional matters relating to the armed forces.
