3 Idiots, released in 2009, has so far managed to rake in 202 crores, both in domestic and overseas market. Apart from that, the movie also opened a new market for Bollywood movies in China, where it became the highest grossing Hindi film ever and reportedly even spawned a Chinese remake. After China, now the makers of the movie have opened the Japanese territory with 3 Idiots, where again it has again become a runaway hit. Rajinikanth’s Tamil movies had seen a mainstream release in Japan, which also had fared well. In fact, 3 Idiots’s performance has encouraged Reliance Entertainment so much so that it is planning to increase the release prints in the Japanese markets.
