The Interior Ministry has directed the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration to ensure foolproof security arrangements for upcoming National Assembly session scheduled for June 1, an official source said on Thursday.
He said that it has been directed to further beef up security in the city as well as near the Parliament Lodges and Constitution Avenue.
Security of Red Zone, including Constitution Avenue and D-Chowk would be also on high alert and irrelevant as well as unauthorized persons would not be allowed to travel through these routes.
An ICT official said that the Constitution Avenue, D-Chowk, and area from PTV building to Cabinet Division have been declared as Red Zone.
The ICT admin has advised unauthorised people not to travel towards the parliament building to avoid any inconvenience.
Source said that security staff of parliament would be present at the gates of parliament to receive the newly elected members of National Assembly after the identification while elaborate security measures would be in place within the building.
District administrators have directed IG Islamabad to beef up security at exit and entry points of the capital and maintain strict vigilance against suspicious elements.
It has been directed to ensure strict security in the Capital and conduct checking of vehicles at all the exit and entry points.
ICT police has already increased mobile patrolling throughout the Federal Capital and extra ordinary security measures are being put in place in and around Parliament House as well as other sensitive installations in the city.
Meanwhile, a police source said that strict checking of vehicles has been started at all entry and exit routes of Islamabad as security has been put on high alert in the capital.
He said all SPs, SDPOs and SHOs of all police stations have been directed to take strict action against suspicious people and anti-social elements.
Owners of hotels and guest houses have been directed to submit details of all visitors with their respective police stations, he added.
Likewise, property dealers and people involved in rent-a-car business were directed to keep information about their clients and also provide it to police.
He said that security has been tightened around all sensitive installations as well as government buildings and extra force has been provided to police station.
