Three tribunals set-up by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Sindh were dissolved on Monday following objections of Sindh High Court (SHC).
The tribunals were set-up by the ECP to take up election-related complaints in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur. Retired judges were appointed for the tribunals.
SHC chief justice objected to the commission’s decision, saying that it was binding to consult the high court to appoint judges according to a Supreme Court order, while terming the appointments as illegal.
