The Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday notified names of 805 successful candidates.
However, the commission did not issue notification about the success of 44 candidates due to certain reasons. They include 16 MNAs‚ six MPAs from Punjab‚ 12 from Sindh‚ two from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and eight from Balochistan.
Interestingly, the electoral body, which spent billions of rupees on election process, has not been able to announce official result of NA-269 Khuzdar so far. The ECP website says the official result of NA-269 Khuzdar is awaited.
Against the total 849 seats, the names of 805 winners have been notified.
A spokesman of the ECP said that in pursuance of the provisions of Sub-section (3-A) and Sub-section (4) of Section 42 of the Representation of the People Act 1976, the ECP has published the names of the successful candidates. Meanwhile, the ECP rejected PTI candidate Hamid Khan’s request for a re-polling in NA-125 Lahore. After hearing arguments from both sides, the commission declared PML-N contender Saad Rafiq as winner.
According to the ECP website, PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique won the seat by securing 123,416 votes while Hamid Khan bagged 84,495 votes.
Separately, the ECP changed the date for re-polling at selective polling stations in NA-46 (Tribal Area-XI) from May 25 to June 5. According to a notification, “Re-polling at polling station numbers 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51 and 54 of NA-46 shall now be held on June 5, 2013 instead of May 25, 2013 as notified earlier.”
