Punjab Chief Secretary (CS) Javaid Iqbal requested the caretaker chief minister to repatriate him, along with his team, to the federal government, since they had completed the assigned duty of holding free and fair elections, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Sources privy to the development revealed that the summary came from the chief secretary to Chief Minister Najam Sethi, who has approved it. “The chief secretary has expressed his desire to return along with his team, to the federal government since the elections have been conducted. Per norm, the summary was moved to the chief minister who will write to the Establishment Division which then notifies the transfer,” a senior official on condition of anonymity told Pakistan Today.
The chief secretary and his team were posted in Punjab from the economic affairs division of the federal government after the caretaker government assumed charge in late March. The team includes additional chief secretary Rao Iftikhar, secretary services Afzal Latif and local government department secretary Ali Raza Bhutta.
Sources further said the new chief secretary will be appointed after the new government forms and the new chief minister is sworn in, while the chief secretary and his team will continue working till then.
