Punjab Inspector General of Prisons Mian Farooq Nazeer on Wednesday banned inter-district movement of all officers without prior permission.

Sources said that IG took serious notice that most of the range deputy inspector generals, superintendent, deputy and assistant superintendent including Sahiwal Jail senior superintendent left for their homes during weekends and gazetted holidays without prior approval of the competent authority, leaving the station unattended in the prevailing critical law and order situation in the country.

The IG has issued orders to all officers for strict compliance otherwise strict action will be taken against the negligent. He also cancelled leave of all jailers and directed to report to their place of duty. The IG has taken this decision to fully ensure foolproof security in and around all prisons in view of the prevailing law and order situation.

All Range DIGs and senior superintendents of jails across the province have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the directive and send compliance reports within a couple of days.
